 LESSON 16: TOO/SO/EITHER/NEITHER 
1. Too/so: mang nghĩa “cũng vậy” khi thể hiện sự đồng ý ở câu khẳng định. 
- Too: vị trí nằm ở cuối câu. 
Ex: He is a student. I am a student, too. 
 She likes apple. I like apple, too. 
- So: vị trí nằm ở giữa câu, phía sau phải đảo ngữ (đảo vị trí của động từ ra trước 
chủ ngữ. 
Ex: He is a student, so do I. 
 She likes apple, so do I. 
2. Either/neither: mang nghĩa “cũng vậy” để thể hiện sự đồng ý nhưng được dùng 
trong câu phủ định (câu có dùng “not”). 
- either: vị trí tương tự như “too” 
Ex: I don’t like banana. She doesn’t like banana, either. 
 They don’t like cucumber. I don’t like cucumber, either. 
- neither: vị trí và cách dùng tương tự như “so” 
Ex: I don’t like banana. So does she. 
 They don’t like cumcumber. So do I.

MODAL VERB (động từ khiếm khuyết): là những từ mà phía sau nó phải là một động 
từ nguyên mẫu dù chủ ngữ là số ít hay số nhiều. 
- should/have to/must/ought to: là những từ diễn tả lời khuyên (nên/phải) 
Ex: She should study harder. (Cô ấy nên học chăm chỉ hơn) 
 I must do my homework first. (Tôi phải làm bài tập trước) 
- can/could/may/might: diễn tả một khả năng (có thể) 
Ex: You can go this way. (Bạn có thể đi lối đó) 
 May I help you? (Tôi có thể giúp gì cho bạn không?)

 Do you have any close friends? I think anybody at least has one close friend in their 
life. And so do I. I have two close friends, Hanh and Mai. We are in the same class at 
primary school, and then secondary school. We are also neighbors so we spend most of 
our time in learning and playing together. Hanh is the beautiful girl with big black eyes 
and an oval rosy face. She is an intelligent student who is always at the top of the class. 
She likes reading, and she often goes to the library whenever she has free time. Mai 
isn’t as beautiful as Hanh, but she has a lovely smile and looks very healthy. Mai is 
very sporty. She spends most of her free time playing sport. Mai is a volleyball star of 
our school. She is also very sociable and has a good sense of humor. Her jokes always
